The client was a permanent resident for over 22 years and was facing deportation after he plead guilty to felony Child Abuse. We filed a habeas corpus motion and after a full day of testimony, we were successful at convincing the court to reverse the conviction based on the criminal lawyer’s failure to correctly advise the client of the adverse immigration consequences. We then filed a motion to terminate removal proceedings and successfully stopped our client’s deportation and separation from his family.

We successfully helped a permanent resident naturalize and become a U.S. citizen despite past issues with mental illness and drug abuse. The client came to us after being told by several lawyers that she would not be able to become a U.S. citizen. After a careful evaluation of the potentially disqualifying issues we were able to develop supporting evidence that help our client become a U.S. citizen.
